Winged Flame

From the Flames of a thousand colors,

From Ancient Ashes carried far and wide,

By the power of the Great Word,

On Wings of Enchantment I Rise and Glide.

Long Live the Free Bird.

Long Live Ecstasy.

Long Live the Magic threads Weaving Destiny.

Long Live the Phoenix and the Wild Realms She Reigns.

Long Live Her Dance of Rainbow Sparks and Flames.

I’m shaking off the ashes.

I’m Rising Fierce with glee.

I’m shooting Love in all directions.

I’m a Wildfire, Phoenix,

Flying High,

Burning Free.

I lift the old curse,

I burn what’s in my way.

I put the fears to good use as I transform the night to day.

I Rise up from the ashes on a Journey of bright array,

I Color all around me.

I am Love in Full display.

Ecstasy here to stay.

Piece of the Eternal Ray.

I’m the Free Bird, come what may.

A Phoenix Rising,

I am the way.

Spirit Within

Spirit Within contained in me,

Flowing like electricity.

Spirit Within so vast and Free,

Forever Boundless,

Both Full and Empty.

Spirit Within that guides my Way,

Riding the currents of every Day.

Spirit Within that’s shinning Now,

A Light that says I do know how.

I close my eyes and feel you there,

In a Timeless Dance,  We’re Fire and Air.

Somehow we have came to Be,

Walking through Eternity.

Upon this Earth We Dance and Run,

The Spirit Within Shines in Everyone.

I Am the Bird and I am the Feather

01_10_2007_0588714001191230042_susan_seddon_boulet

Dancing through time and space in perfect harmony,

taking on infinite forms,

Being boundless. Being free.

Creating and destroying, I am both unity and duality.

Yet always loving, no matter how fierce I must be.

In one moment that lasts forever I am both here and I am there,

a Goddess, courageous and clever…

I am the bird and I am the feather.

I fly to you now, through this poetry,

an expression of our truth and the Goddess within me.

May we sing, may we dance,

may we live each moment thru

the Goddess that breathes us all,

with hearts burning true.

Talk Amongst the Trees

I overheard on my walk today faint whispers through the trees.

I stopped to listen and all was still, even the falling of the leaves.

As I continued on my way, the grass again began to sway.

A gentle breeze blew by, and the limbs of the trees relaxed with a sigh.

I looked up and around then down, feeling in great company.

I heard a buzzing near the ground, and saw an insect hovering before me.

Its wings were purple, gold, and long, and it approached me buzzing a song.

Yet, I knew it was just a distraction, from the talking tree’s reaction.

The sun shone through to the forest floor,

and the surrounding foliage appeared to grow more.

I was rooted deeply where I stood, as if the earth below took hold for good.

I looked up towards the heavens and all I could see

was the canopy above looking down at me.

I felt a message, strong and clear,

As if the trees had whispered it in my ear.

I felt at home, safe, and free,

Like a little bird sheltered within a great tree.

And as I stood and listened, I heard the trees begin to say,

In a type of silent, mystery language, the trees began to pray.

What moment of pure reverence, complete serenity.

What delight, what great pleasure, what pure divinity.

I fell to my knees and listened, amazed by their symphony,

Rising tall throughout the forest, their branches dancing in harmony.

And so I began my dance with trees.

And wouldn’t you know I spread my wings.

They were purple, gold and long.

And soon enough I was humming along.

And to this day I say, we must walk through the trees and pray.

If we could all just talk to trees.

I know they’d pray for us and for our peace.

I know we would dance in harmony, becoming one with all divinity.

So if you walk through the forest and you hear a whisper stay.

For you might just hear the trees, and together pray.

Sun and Star Dancer

Long, long ago, before the Earth had come to be,

Sun was a cosmic dancer, spiraling through eternity.

Now, Sun had many friends’ who spun the galaxy;

Stars, moons and planets, creating destiny.

Sun was a bright spinner, blazing a new path,

lighting up the cosmos, with a fiery rath.

In a moment, out of nowhere, Sun collided with a Star,

their dances took them tumbling, round and round, forever far.

Sun’s fire grew to double, as the two began their fun,

twinkling and twirling, orbiting as one.

Sun had never knew a partner who could dance so beautifully,

And so they revolved together in sparkling unity.

When Sun finally found the balance to pull the energy in,

Star fell through the cosmos, crashing again and again.

Before Sun could rekindle their connection, there was a Super Big Bang.

An explosion of infinite pieces lit up the space through which Star came.

When Star’s dust began to settle it collected to materialize

Into tiny beads of liquid, like tear drops from Sun’s eyes.

It was the magic of the moment that created a new entity,

From the ashes of star-dancer, came the birth of Earth and Sea.

Lady of the River

I know a lady of the river, who walks along the banks.

Her feet are bare and heartened from the river walks she takes.

With legs long and limber, and so nimble when we run,

we skip and hop from rock to rock, and in the mud we slide for fun.

She answers all my questions, with a ripple or a wave.

We swim and dance together, and in the waterfalls we bathe.

If you could hear us sing together, how beautiful it would be,

It’s the voice of my mother and sister, when they sing with me.

Her hair is long and silky slick, tied up with the bones from the fish she’s picked.

And in this mane she carries nests, for a humming bird and a frog to rest.

From her heart a lotus looms, and a serpent uncoils within its bloom.

Below her hips the river flows, singing along as it goes…..

And when we float the river, or swim it like a fish,

the current takes us under and together we both wish…

With mouths wide open under water, we bless the river with our song

and our prayer becomes the water as it flows along.

We wish and pray always, that the river will flow free,

with waters true and of brilliant hue, on its journey to the sea.

It’s once we’ve finished praying that we sit and simply be,

the mystery of life flowing around us is our spirituality.

I gaze into the water, and meet my eyes to see,

the Lady of the River staring back at me.

Love without Light: Reclaiming the Heart of Darkness

They say the eyes are the windows to one’s soul. Look deeply into your own, or any other, and you will find encircled within the iris a dark center. Our “pupil”, the focal point for all our visions and the lens from which we see, the dark middle, a black whole.

So often we think of darkness opposing the light. Light in all its brilliance illuminates the path. It is a gift from the stars. We follow the light. We choose the light. We look at the bright side. We are guided by and towards the light. Yet, it is the light that casts our shadows. And let’s not forget where we come from.

In the darkness is where it all begins. Each new day begins with a light in the dark. And the fertile ground beneath us is a dark place for roots to grow. Yet, this is our foundation. We were once the seeds comforted in the darkness, in the unseen. It is here, in which all life has been nurtured and birthed. And so it is with all dreams and desires, arising from a seed of the unknown.

I’m not writing to shed light into the dark, but to reclaim the heart of darkness. It is within us. It is where rest and comfort await, where visions are born, where we let go, soften, surrender, and trust. When we “look inside,” we don’t see, we feel. We’ve all felt our way through the dark at some point, hands out like antennas, listening as we reach and step, reach and step, trusting along the way. Into the unseen, feeling our way, guided from within.

In the dark you find yourself, listening, with nothing to see, and everything to be. The breath, your heart, each thought wave coming in loud and clear, what is there to fear? How often do we allow ourselves to explore the darkness both inward and outside? It teaches us to slow down, pay attention, listen, question, feel and to trust ourselves. Yes, it’s nice to turn on the light, but you will never know your own depths without diving into the dark.

There is a heart in darkness, it is pure, and it is true. You can trust it, relax, and let those black nights soothe you. So love the light with all your might, but not more than the dark, for one could not exist without the other, like a soul with out a heart.
Without the dark, light would not be. Without the light, the world could not see. So fear it not, and love it true, for in the end the darkness will hold you.

I am. And I am here for that.

“Who am I and Why am I here?” This is the big question. It is the KEY question, the defining of one’s self, and of one’s purpose. Oh how many answers I could give, but none would qualify that which I am.

When I ask the cells of my being, they in turn must ask the elements within, and so it is here I begin, with the breath. Inhaling a cool night inward, my chest expands creating the spaciousness around my heart for the waves of Prana to rise and fall, they are the tides of my becoming.

To the life force I breathe, I ask this essential question, knowing each breath I take is a gift. The breath soothes me as I ponder the feeling, a sensation of pure aliveness coursing through me, humming a vibration in tune with the harmonies of life. And the answer comes, “I am the space in which you move and I am that which moves you. I am the nothingness from which everything becomes. I am openness and emptiness, yet always full and expanding. As you breath so shall you receive the gifts of a supported life.”

The winds within don’t dance alone. I’ve got rivers and seas, flowing through internal sanctuaries, needing constant replenishing from the pure waters of the world. And so I ask this translucent liquid we call water, as I drink from the well of life, becoming that which I intake. A sweet answer soothes me from the taste of my saliva, “I am your sweet juice and nectar, your potion and your wine. I am the river pulsing through you. I connect you and the divine. I am poetry in motion, I’m the raindrop and I’m the ocean. I’m transformation and manifestation. I am the blood of all creation.”

The juices from my mouth melt the cake from which I feed, from the fruits of life it was made, sprouted from a tiny seed. I eat the cake and become one with the tree. This tree, how did she come to be? She grew both from the light above, and into a heartened dark below. She ate the light of heaven, in the warmth of the sun her branches did grow. Yet, it was the earth below that sustained her, allowing her to be. It was the solid loving earth that continuously held the tree. And to the earth, I asked this question from the delicious food she gave to me.

“I am where you come from and where you shall return. I am the bed from which you rise, and the shelter to which you run. I give my life and all my love, I hold you close to the sun. I offer you all of my creations, you are one of them you know, I am the greatest of all Mother’s, the source from which things grow. I’m a lover and a dancer, and an artist to no end. I am the greatest of creators. I’m the earth and I’m you’re friend.”

And with her words I wept, as I now am weeping, for the love of the earth and the light of the sun. Feeling their power shine through me, knowing that we are one. And as my heart swelled with emotion, I felt the power of the ocean. The breath came in time to cool me, from the heat of a desire pulsing through me….Love. That is why I’m here. I am. And I am here to embrace all that I am, and all that is, because I am it and it fuels me. It fills me. It fulfills me.
